¹⁶The people living^[a] in darkness have seen a great light,
and for those living^[b] in the land and shadow of death,
a light has risen.”^[c]

¹⁷From then on, Jesus began to announce, “Repent, because the kingdom from^[d] heaven is near!”

¹⁸While Jesus^[e] was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers—Simon (also^[f] called Peter) and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the sea, because they were fishermen.
